The area is famous for the presence of Sicilian and brown trout.<br \/>\nThere is magnificent oriental Plane trees along the rivers, while on the rocks over them blooms of oleanders stand out.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the presence of a number of necropolises, Pantalica stands out from an archaeological point of view and is a useful place for understanding the passage of time from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the necropolises that stand out are:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ulPantalica\">\n<li>the necropolis of Filiporto made up of about a thousand tombs going back to the 9th and 8th century AD;<\/li>\n<li>the necropolis of Cavetta characterized by the presence of Byzantine dwellings;<\/li>\n<li>the necropolis of San Martino, made up of prehistoric tombs and two Byzantine tombs, the Hypogeum of Dionysus and the Grotto of Saint Anna, both characterized by canopy tombs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<style>\n.ulPantalica li {color: #000;font-size: 22px;font-weight: 100;line-height: 25px;}<br \/><\/style>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Situated in the province of Syracuse, about 80km from Marzamemi, Pantalica is one of Sicily\u2019s most important naturalistic-archaeological sites.
